Term 1 Reflections

well, term 1 is not exactly over, as there still has a sabbatical week waiting for me xD

But the 1st 9 weeks of Sec 4 has been quite hectic:
lessons, tests, Ironman, band, etc..

Surely, I have made mistakes, and if I ever offended anyone, I would hope to be forgiven.

I have learnt a lot about friendship these days. Its importance. Its value in life.

Everybody has to have true friends and also acquaintances. Friends are the pillars in your life that help you through your difficulties, accompanying you to the very end.

One cannot be too selfish, and expect everything in return. While you contribute to your friends, do your best, for the sake of your friend. While doing so, think of what good you can do, how you can help your friends, not how that friend of yours would repay your kindness.

The person at the receiving end would most certainly appreciate your help to a certain extent. To me, a word of thanks and appreciation is enough to make me satisfied. There is no need to sulk when you think that you are not ‘repayed’. Who knows, it is in the future that his or her help comes in useful? Friendship is not about getting back in return, but giving out to others.

Sometimes, it is inevitable for a friend or acquaintance to make a mistake, hurt you and make you feel betrayed. But instead of brooding over what has happened, do forgive him or her, as all people have times when they do wrong. Lift the grudge, and continue living a life without regrets of the past.

Everybody makes mistakes, you do too. A scar maybe left in your hearts by friends or foes. But time heals wounds. There may be a mark still left on the surface, but the pain would be long gone through time. Let the mark be a symbol and reminder of how you have healed your wounds.

Sometimes, you have to compromise to others cos different people have different personalities. If everybody just stick to their own ways of doing things, thinking that other people should adapt to their own personality, conflicts sure will occur. Quarrels and fights and cold wars. Therefore it is vital for different people within a working group to understand each other and compromise. But sometimes there is still a need for you to stand for your own rights. Nonetheless, compromise is much needed for a group of people to function well.

To give, to forgive, to compromise. This is what I want to do as a friend, and hope what my friends can do to me.

It has came to me that the yardstick to friendship, if it can be measured, is not how much you have given or received, but whether after time, it still stands strong.

Well, thinking about all of this makes 2.4km on the treadmill seems easy. Cheers! =D
